Court grants Kwaw Kesse bail on health grounds
Popular Ghanaian musician, Emmanuel Botwe alias “Kwaw Kese”, who has been on prison remand for more than one month over alleged smoking of a substance suspected to be cannabis has been granted bail.
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Circuit court’s decision was influenced by his ill-health.
The accused has been on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital since December 22, for what is said to be aggravated ulcer.
At his fourth court appearance on Tuesday, the Presiding Judge, William Boampong, accepted the motion by his counsel to free him on bail, pending trial.
He was consequently, granted GH₵80,000 bail with a surety to return to the dock on January 5, 2015.
Kwaw Kese was arrested on November, 22 2014 at the Plus 2 pub in Kumasi by police officers, for smoking the substance.
His plea is yet to be taken.
