Conflicting news reports announce Nigerian actor Muna Obiekwe is dead

There are conflicting news reports about the death of Nigerian actor Muna Obiekwe.

While some news reports say emphatically that he died in a hospital at Festac in Lagos this afternoon Sunday January 18, 2015, others say he is not dead, including a tweet purported to be from him.

However, blogger Linda Ikeji writes “Yes, it’s true! Actor Muna Obiekwe has died. He died this afternoon around 4:15pm in a hospital in Lagos after a battle with kidney failure. He was rushed to the hospital today after he collapsed at his home.”

But Ikeji did not cite any source.

Following the news the actor has responded on Twitter saying he is alive.

He tweeted “People should mind what they post as stories, sound the alarm and tell others that I, Muna Obiekwe is alive and well…”

But some people on social media have described the twitter handle as ‘fake’.

It is therefore difficult to say at this stage if the news is factual, as no sources have been quoted. Neither hospital nor family sources have been cited in most of the reports making the rounds.

As things stand now, it would only be a matter of time, before the truth is known.
