AFCON 2015: Algerian coach plots for Gyan
Head coach of Algeria, Christian Gourcuff, has said he is aware of threats from Ghana’s lead striker Asamoah Gyan in their clash on Friday, at the Estadio De Mongomo, Mongomo, in the second Group C game.
Coach Gourcuff said at a post-match conference that, they are aware of the qualities of the player and has mapped out well-rehearsed strategy to contain him.
According to coach Gourcuff, Gyan is one of the quality players in the competition and his presence could make a lot of difference hence the need to contain his threats.
“I wished he was not fit enough to play against us. He missed the first match and will be happy to see him remain on the bench when we play them on Friday.
“But this does not mean we cannot contain him. We know how to deal with him,” he told the media on Thursday.
He said Ghana had a lot young and talented players and cannot be underrated on any day.
Coach Gourcuff said, the game against Ghana will be a difficult one, because Ghana will be out to seek a win to remain in the competition.
“Having lost the first game, they will be much more aggressive in the game against us and this could be dangerous.
“We have to work harder than before to succeed in the game against Ghana”.
Ghana will need a win against the North Africans to remain in the competition after losing their first game against Senegal.
