Circuit Court orders former Judge to vacate bungalow
A Circuit Court at Fiapre near Sunyani on Monday ordered Madam Janet Awo Bakudie to vacate a bungalow belonging to the Judicial Service of Ghana, following the termination of her appointment in 2014.
The presiding Judge, Mr Yaw Owoahene Acheampong’s order was in response to a writ of summons by the Judicial Service, Plaintiff, against Madam Bakudie, Defendant, stating that the latter’s continuous stay at the bungalow in question was unlawful and illegal.
Madam Bakudie was an employee of the Judicial Service as a Judge in-charge of District Court ‘A’ in Sunyani, but her appointment had been terminated and her name has been removed from the roll of Judges (District Magistrate-career).
The statement claimed that Madam Bakudie was allocated Bungalow No. 15 at the government residential area, Sunyani, as a duty post and was later transferred to Daboase in Western Region.
It explained that she refused to vacate the place to make way for its renovation for use by the Service, adding that letters were written on three occasions in 2014 to her to vacate the bungalow but she consistently refused to move out.
The writ averted that Madam Bakudie’s letter dated November 23, 2014 to Plaintiff stated that she had petitioned the President John Dramani Mahama against her dismissal and until the petition was heard she would not vacate the place.
Plaintiff stated that a new Judge had been appointed to manage that Court but because Madam Bakudie had not left, that Judge was being accommodated in a hotel at a very high cost to the Service.
