Ghana hosts construction conference

HousingA four-day Executive Bureau Conference of the African Federation of Construction Contractors’ Association (AFCCA) is scheduled for Accra from January 29 to February 1.

The event being hosted by the Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors of Ghana (ABCECG), under the auspices of the Ministry of Water Resources Works and Housing is to deliberate on issues concerning the construction industry in Africa.

Mr Martins Kwasi Nnuro, National President, ABCECG told the Ghana News Agency that hosting the AFCCA members is significant milestone for the construction industry in Ghana.

He said this has a potential to create a step further in the development of the international trading and building sector.

“This includes trading across borders within the African continent to enhance delivery capacities in Africa,” he added.

Mr Nnuro said it is a privilege for the Association and the country to host the conference, since it would offer an opportunity to open the gates of construction with other African countries.

The National President said the conference would also encourage discussion on industry strengths as well as gaps for exchange and partnerships.

He said one of the aims of the AFCCA is to build ties with an established group of contractors in each country in Africa.

The conference would attract participants from Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, Benin, Sudan, Senegal, Libya, Niger, Malawi and Zambia.
