WAFA stretches Kotoko to goalless game
Visiting WAFA fought gallantly to force defending champions, Asante Kotoko, to a goalless draw in their First Capital Plus Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, on Sunday.
The match, played in a more relaxed manner, saw WAFA’s midfield duo of Zakaria Mumuni and Majeed Ashimeru dictate the pace of the first half with their accurate passes and holding play.
Bashiru Mohammed who spearheaded the visitors’ attack was wasteful upfront, squandering the two clear-cut chances that came his way in the 19th and 22nd minutes.
Kotoko came into the second half with more seriousness and beefed up their attack, substituting Jordan Opoku for Emmanuel Clottey, and for most parts of this session, the host kept the goal area of the visitors boiling with action.
Sarfo Gyamfi and Clottey in the latter part of the match all came close to scoring, but their well-taken shots in the 88th and 90th minutes, respectively, were saved by the visitors’ goalkeeper, Felix Annan.
