Ghana meets Nigeria in Independence Day Golf

The Achimota Golf Club will host the IBB Golf Club of Abuja, Nigeria in their Annual Independence Golf Championship at the newly-refurbished Achimota Golf Course in Accra in a two-day friendly.

Frank Adu, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, who disclosed this in Accra on Wednesday, said the tourney, played on home and away basis yearly, was to commemorate the independence celebration of the two countries. It commences on March 6.

He said last year, the competition did not come on due to the renovation work which was going on at the Achimota Golf Course. ‘’The renovation works had been completed and that we are going to match our opponents boot for boot”.

The Captain said the Match-Play competition would see both teams fielding 50 players over two days.

“We are leaving no stone unturned to beat the Nigerians at home and also beat them in the Nigeria Independence tournament in October.”
