Bank of Ghana not printing new currency denominations – Hammond
The Bank of Ghana is not printing new currency denominations, an official of the central bank has told ghanabusinessnews.com.
There are currently photos of new Ghana currency denominations posted on Facebook, and Facebookers are asking questions. The denominations are in GH¢30, GH¢100 and GH¢200. The sources or source of that information is not known, but comments on the photos suggest that the government might be printing these new denominations of the Ghana cedi or has plans to do so, however, when ghanabusinessnews.com contacted Ms Esi Hammond of the Public Relations Unit of the Bank of Ghana on the phone, she said the Bank has no plans to print new currency denominations.
“The public should disregard this information,” she said, adding that, “there are no such plans by the Bank to print new currency denominations.”
