I’m not disappointed to meet Nigeria – Tetteh
Black Satellites’ coach, Sellas Tetteh has said he is not disappointed with his semi-finals date with perennial rivals and tournament favourite, Nigeria.
Ghana succumbed 1-0 to Mali in their last Group B match at the African Youth Championship (AYC), played at the Caroline Faye Stadium in M’bour on Sunday.
The results means Ghana, finishing second in the group with six points has set up a semi-final date with Nigeria in Dakar on Wednesday.
Tetteh told GNA Sports in a post match interview that, “I am not disappointed that we will be meeting Nigeria. We knew any other team in the semi-finals is capable.
“We know we came and could not conquer which means the team we have to meet is Nigeria. All we have to do is to prepare well and beat them on Wednesday.”
Tetteh who rang changes in his starting line-up against Mali said, “I introduced four new players in to the team. This is a tournament and at any given time you need to have the opportunity to see all the players.
“It was a calculated risk that took to introduce those players so we know how they will gel in case we will need them as we progress. It was not the reason we lost today. We lost holistically.”
Mali will now meet host Senegal at the semi-finals in Dakar on Thursday.
All four teams have qualified to represent Africa at the World Youth Championship (WYC), in New Zealand in May.
