Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, Deputy Minister of Power, at the weekend commissioned electricity in three communities in the Central Gonja District to improve economic activities.

The communities included Fufulso/Junction, Kabilpe and Domeabre, where the minister pledged government’s continuous commitment to provide communities with social amenities and projects that would help reduce poverty in the country.

Mr Jinapor said electricity extension to those communities had been long overdue, and that the gesture was in fulfillment of President Mahama’s promise to connect as many communities as possible to the national grid.

He said 11 communities around the Mpaha area had also been connected to the national grid, and gave the assurance that to justify the confidence the people reposed in the NDC government, no community would be left in darkness..

He said the government would continue to distribute the national cake equitably, and appealed to communities that have not yet received their share of development to remain patient since development would not elude them.

Mr Mumuni Shiraz Ibn Yacin, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Central Gonja, disclosed that a World Bank project would soon commence to construct a water treatment plant from the White Volta River to supply pipe borne water to the people.

Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, Deputy Northern Regional Minister, stressed the need for continuous peace and unity among the people of Central Gonja for development to prevail saying, “the construction of the Fufulso/Junction-Damongo-Sawla road is a testimony of NDC being a development oriented”.

He said the country under the leadership of President John Mahama had seen tremendous development, especially in the road sector, adding,  “the evidence is there to show,  and I believe NDC would be retained due to its good works”.
