84 to contest NPP primaries in Eastern Region
Eighty four people including ten women had filed their nominations to contest the primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 33 constituencies of the Eastern Region.
All the 84 candidates have all gone through the vetting process of the party and had honoured all their obligations to the party.
This was disclosed to the Ghana News Agency in an interview with Mr Umar Bodinga, the First Eastern Regional Vice Chairman of the party at Koforidua.
He said, in eight constituencies, the candidates would be unopposed since they were the only candidates who filed their nomination documents.
The constituencies include Atiwa East, Okere, Akuapem South, Achiase, Akim Swedro, Suhum, Upper Manya and Afram Plains North.
Candidates above 40 years paid a nomination fee of GH¢30,000, whilst those below 40 years and all females paid GH¢15, 000.
