Mr Richard Mangson, Birim Central Municipal Officer of the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) of National Board for Small scale Industries has advised the youth to focus on agriculture as a core business.
He said agriculture is not meant for crop cultivation alone but involves manufacturing, production and livestock rearing.
Mr Mongson made gave the advice in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.
He noted that, his centre is embarking on an initiative known as Rural Enterprise Programme introduced by the Government, International Fund for Agriculture Development and African Development Bank, to alleviate poverty.
He said the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has introduced “Youth in Agriculture Business” to the BAC and would involve three weeks training of the programme beneficiaries at Asoanse Farm Institute in the Central Region.
Mr Mongson said the training aims at reducing the problems of unemployment through agro-processing and industrial activities to cover areas like soap making, bee- keeping, mushroom cultivation and palm oil extraction.
