Mpreaso SHS students owe school over GH¢350,000

CedisStudents of the Mpraeso Senior High School(MPASS),  are owing the  school over GH¢350,000 in boarding fees this academic year, and this  has affected the effective running of the school.

The final year students who have just completed, also left a debt of GH¢30,000 in boarding fees.

Mr Seth Amoako, the headmaster of the school, made this known at the Parent -Teacher Association (PTA) meeting at the School at Mpraeso.

He said, some of the students had not paid any money since the beginning or the year, but were being fed three times daily by the school.

The Headmaster, therefore, appealed to the parents to pay for the boarding fees of their wards, to ensure the smooth-running of the school.

He urged the parents to have interest in their children’s education, and encourage them to learn since some of them have been refusing to write their end of term examinations.

The headmaster warned that students who failed their promotion examinations would not be promoted.

He said teachers of the school were offering free extra tuition to the students, following the Ghana Education Service directive for schools to apply for approval to charge students extra classes fees.

The Assistant Headmaster in-charge of Academic, Mr Victor Asietey, said most of the students in forms one and two performed poorly in their first and second term examinations since they refused to study.

He said, the students had broken part of the school wall, through which they escaped to town to watch European football matches, and engage in sports gambling.

Mr Sasu Dapaah, the PTA Chairman, urged parents to co-operate with the teachers to enforce discipline in the school.

He disclosed that the PTA would soon undertake the construction of an Assembly Hall, and renovate the school kitchen.
