Minister unhappy about Assemblies’ management of funds
Madam Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Volta Regional Minister, has expressed worry about the poor administration of Members of Parliament (MP’s) Constituency Fund by assemblies in the Region.
She said checks showed that there were no indicative work plans for implementation of various activities and projects under the facility.
Madam Ntoso, who was addressing the first Regional Coordinating Council meeting for 2015 in Ho on Wednesday, noted that selection and approval committees for the determination of financial support to needy students in second cycle and tertiary institutions were non-existent.
She said correspondence between the assemblies and MPs was also very weak and said such situations were affecting effective management of the Fund.
Madam Ntoso also lamented about the misapplication of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) on project monitoring, payment for entertainment, telephone, water and electricity bills, in spite of regulations on the utilization of the DACF
She said the general performance of assemblies in the Region was not encouraging but singled out Ketu North Assembly for recommendation for the Functional Organisation Assessment Tool (FOAT) assessment.
Madam Ntoso said the Regional Coordinating Council was considering the publication of a performance league table for the assemblies to inform the public on their performances.
