Management of Asante Kotoko hold emergency meeting over 3-0 defeat

The Management of Asante Kotoko has held an emergency meeting in Kumasi, following the team’s humiliating First Capital Plus Premier League Match Day-22 defeat to visiting Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors recorded their worst home performance in the club’s 80-year old history, losing 0-3 to Chelsea at the weekend, and this development has sparked unprecedented agitations by the supporters and some stakeholders.

“I think the club needs to sit up in order to save what remains to be protected”, Dogo Moro, a Kotoko legend, who featured for the club in the 1950s and 60s, told the GNA Sports.

Defending champions, Asante Kotoko, occupy the 10th position on the log on 29 points, and potentially could be relegated with their inconsistent performance, particularly at home.

The gloomy expression on the faces of the teeming supporters, coming after the team’s disappointing game against Chelsea summed up their frustration.

Established in 1935, the Porcupine Warriors, once a force to reckon with in African football and the most successful Ghanaian club, have seen the going tough since the beginning of the 2015 league season.

With the sacking of Coach Mas-Ud Dramani in the early stages of the league, expectations were high as David Duncan was brought in to salvage Kotoko’s image.

This had, however, not worked to perfection and the club needs to work assiduously to get to winning ways to avoid the unexpected.
