I don’t know what to do – Opoku-Nti

Asante Kotoko General Manager, Samuel Opoku-Nti has said he is confused about what to do to fix the club’s ill Premiership campaign this term.

The defending champions are 12 on the log, only a place above the drop boarder line having amassed 29 points after 23 matches in the First Capital Plus League.

Opoku-Nti, told the GNA Sports that, “In fact, I even do not know what to do now.

“We have provided our players with all that they need to perform on the field of play, but things seem not work for us.

“The Management cannot fathom what is happening to the club”, he lamented.

The Kotoko legend, whose goal won the Porcupine Warriors the last of their two CAF Champions’ League trophies in 1983, described the team’s poor run as very disturbing.

The Reds have endured a torrid season which has seen them record their worst home defeat yet in 80 years, following their 0-3 thrashing from Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Stadium in the Garden City last Sunday.

Following that defeat, aggrieved supporters of the club, who could not come to terms with the team’s record-breaking defeat kept their players hostage after the match.

It took the intervention of security personnel detailed to restore order at the Stadium to rescue the destruct players from the claws of the disgruntled army of supporters.

Kotoko who are set to host leaders AshGold in Kumasi on Sunday, before hitting the road to play troubled rivals, Hearts of Oak a week on were further bruised in mid-week following a lone defeat to WAFA.

The club must win against the Miners and the Phobians to avoid sinking any further into the relegation zone.
