Self assessment necessary in the tax regime – GRA
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is committed to promoting the culture of self-assessment by companies to help ensure voluntary compliance and grow the government purse.
Mr Kingsley Nketia-Dardom, an official of the Internal Revenue Service of the GRA, said Ghana had signed on to an international convention concerning self-assessment, and is working to reach the stated goal by the end of 2015.
The Revenue Officer was speaking at a Tax Education Seminar organized for Medium Tax Payers at Takoradi on the theme: “Tax Education, A Tool for Voluntary Compliance”.
Mr Nketia-Dardom said widening the scope of self-assessment practice was key to roping in more revenue for government.
He urged companies to properly self-assess themselves in order not to incur the wrath of the law.
Mrs Rebecca Adwoa Howard, an official at the Medium Tax Office, urged companies to ensure proper record keeping.
