University Teachers announce strike
The University Teachers Association of Ghana, (UTAG) on Thursday announced it was withdrawing its teaching services in all public universities until further notice.
The UTAG says the strike action takes effect from 6th August 2015, a statement signed by Dr Samuel Awinkene Atintono, UTAG National Secretary and copied to the GNA said.
The statement said the decision was taken at an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of UTAG held on August 5, 20l5, at the University of Education, Winneba,
“This follows the failure of Government to respect and honour the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on September 2, 2012, between it and UTAG, in respect of the payment of the 2014/12015 book and research allowances, which has already elapsed.
