MoneyMaker irrigation pump launched in the north

The MoneyMaker Irrigation Pump, a two-cylinder manually-operated irrigation pump, has been launched in the Northern Region to help to ensure all-year round agricultural production.

Mr Iyad Hatoum, Managing Director of Hatoum Trading Company, authorised distributor of the pumps, said at the launch in Tamale on Thursday, that the technology helps to irrigate crops easier and quicker to ensure increased yields.

Mr Hatoum encouraged especially small scale farmers to patronise the technology since it would ensure self-sustenance through small scale farming, leading to better income.

Mr Hanan Gundadow, Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tamale, said in a speech read on his behalf, that the technology has come at the right time to help ensure an all-year-round agricultural production since the region has only one rainy season.

Mr Gundadow urged farmers to patronise the technology to help improve agricultural production in the region.

Mr Peter Dakudzi, Regional Engineer at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture asked Hatoum Trading Company to introduce the technology to farmers through farm demonstrations to enable them to adopt it.
