Team investigating Starbow accident completes preliminary work
A team of aviation experts investigating the cause of a Starbow Airline Flight over-shooting the runway at the Tamale Airport has completed gathering preliminary information about the accident.
The team, which completed the work on Wednesday, has since returned to Accra to assess the information to come out with a final report on the cause of the accident.
Mr Michael Omane Mensah, Tamale Airport Manager, who announced this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, in Tamale, on Wednesday, said the team examined the plane and spoke to a number of people, including the pilot, some airport staff.
A Starbow Airline Flight, over-shot the runway at the Tamale Airport on Tuesday, at 08:31 hours.
The aircraft, a British Aerospace 146 jet with flight number 110, was from Accra and carried 76 passengers, all of who were safely disembarked.
Following the accident, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) dispatched a team of aviation safety inspectors to Tamale Airport, on Tuesday, to conduct investigations into the cause of the accident.
Mr Omane Mensah said the aircraft still remained at the site of the accident, while the Management of Starbow was working out plans to tow it away from the site.
