MASLOC disburses GH¢693,540 to women groups in Northern Region
The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) on Wednesday began disbursing GH¢693,540 to 25 women groups in the Northern Region, to ensure their economic independence.
Alhaji Mohammed Amin, Zonal Coordinator of the MASLOC, disclosed that a total of 1,175 women were benefiting from the package at an interest rate of 2.0 % and a repayment period of six months.
The beneficiary women were drawn from the Tamale North, Tamale South, Tamale Central, Nanumba North and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba districts, all of the Northern region.
Alhaji Amin said the women were receiving between GH₵300 and GH¢1,000, stressing that each of them was assessed before given the support.
He, however, complained that MASLOC was constraint logistically to carry out its activities, and that its staff strength was very weak, coupled with the unavailability of vehicles to transport staff to remote areas of the region.
Mrs Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, Acting Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, symbolically presented some cheque to some of the women groups at Tamale North to begin the process of a duty-day disbursement.
