Bosch opens branch in Ghana

bosch-group-new-branchThe Bosch Group, a leading global supplier of technology and services, has opened its new sales, marketing and service branch in the country to provide customers with quality products and services.

The Group comprises Robert Bosch with 440 subsidiaries and regional companies in 60 countries with its operations divided into business sectors-mobility solutions, industrial technology, consumer goods and energy and building technology.

Dr Markus Thill, President of Robert Bosch Africa said at a media briefing that the company was set up in Stuttgart in 1886 by Robert Bosch as workshop for precision mechanics and electrical engineering with the objective of creating solutions for a connected world.

Dr Thill said the company sees high potential for its business in Africa and the West African market through rapid-growing population, low average age, increasing middle-class and optimistic economic forecast.

Dr Thill explained that the mobility solutions business sector offers customers integrated mobility solutions in injection technology and power train peripherals for internal combustion engines, safety and driver-assistance systems.

He said the industrial technology sector includes the drive and control technology, which supplies innovative components, customized systems solutions, gear technology and assembly technology.

“The consumer goods sector includes the household appliances division, which offers range of modern households appliances such as stoves, ovens, washing machines, refrigerators and freezers, dishwashers and vacuum cleaners”, he added.

Mr Simon Agbeno, Chief Executive Officer of Robert Bosch Middle East, Ghana Branch said the company in 2014 signed an agreement with Vivo Energy Ghana, for both companies and its local distributors to bring together their expertise in the areas of automotive spare parts and state-of-the art workshop test equipment.

He said the agreement enables Bosch’s automotive aftermarket business division to distribute diagnostics equipment, car control units, diesel systems, spark plugs to selected shell service stations operated by Vivo Energy Ghana.

Mr Ghislain Noumbessy, Chief Executive Officer of Robert Bosch, West Africa said the company is now present in nine African countries-South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Angola, Mozambique, Algeria, Nigeria and Ghana.

He said Bosch is part of a group of 20 companies, which offer scholarships to African junior executives to spend a year in Germany completing a professional training programme with the goal of fostering mutual exchange and learning between budding African executives and German companies.
