Gomoa Central NDC denies bribing delegates to endorse President Mahama

The Executives of the Gomoa Central branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have categorically denied a statement alleged to have been made by their Member of Parliament (MP) that money was used to bribe delegates before endorsing  the candidature of  President John Mahama.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Emmanuel Akyer, Communication Officer of the Gomoa Central Constituency branch of the party, and  a copy made available to the Ghana News Agency at Agona Swedru.

The statement pointed out that   the popularity of Mrs Rachel Nana Adjoa Apoh Opuku, (MP) and President John Dramani Mahama in Gomoa Central remained intact.

It said the only expenditure incurred by the MP was Traveling and Transport (T&T) for delegates who traveled far and near to their polling stations to cast their votes.

“It would therefore be impossible and sad for the MP to bribe more than 4.000 delegates in the Constituency to induce them to vote for the President, as being speculated in the Media.”

The statement further indicated that any delegate who voted “Yes” did so on his or her own will, based on the performance and tremendous developmental projects being executed  in  Gomoa Central.

It mentioned some of the projects as Community Senior High School (SHS), numerous CHIP Compounds and basic schools infrastructure.

The statement, therefore,  urged  the President Mahama, the MP,  and the Party to have faith in Gomoa Central,  that assured them that  the party would win massively in both the  Presidential and Parliamentary elections in 2016.
