Ghana Standards Authority cautions public against impostors
The management of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has disassociated itself from individuals impersonating members of their staff and demanding payments from manufacturers.
A statement signed by Dr George B. Crenstil, Executive Director of the Authority, said: “It has come to the notice of the Ghana Standards Authority that certain individuals are going round peddling falsehood that they are members of staff of the Ghana Standards Authority and they have identified faults with products by certain manufacturers”.
It said such people were demanding payments from unsuspecting manufacturers with the assurance that they would get GSA to drop any sanctions against them.
The GSA has therefore advised their clients and the public to ignore these people as their actions are a scam, and to report such people to the police or the GSA.
The statement pledged GSA’s continuous collaboration with the media in order to protect the interest of local industries so as to help develop the economy.
