Kwahu hosts maiden corporate paragliding festival
The Ghana Tourism Authority under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has held the maiden Corporate Paragliding Festival at Atibie-Kwahu in the Eastern Region.
The two-day event attracted many from within Corporate Ghana to the Peaks of the Odweanoma Mountain at Atibie-Kwahu to witness the adventure sport, which has gained popularity in Ghana, becoming one of the reasons why people from all walks of life throng the Kwahu area during the Easter period.
Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, whose efforts led to the event, expressed the hope that the Corporate Paragliding Festival would become an annual event to serve as a converging point for businesses to maximize their output.
“I am convinced that the Corporate Paragliding will become an established event on Corporate Ghana’s annual calendar of activities that promote team building,” she added.
She said it was also to create a social environment for staff and management of Corporate institutions to relax and enjoy each other’s’ company to enhance productivity.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare explained that the festival was one of several events that her Ministry and its implementing agency, the Ghana Tourism Authority would continue to organize, to promote and sustain interest in the patronage of local tourism.
She expressed the optimism about corporate paragliding also having the potential to enrich the country’s domestic tourism offerings.
It would also boost the ‘Explore Ghana’ project to improve the economies of local communities, strengthen social cohesion and foster a greater sense of national pride and unity.
Workers and family members from the Samir Group, one of the main sponsors of the Paragliding Festival could not hide their joy in seeing their colleagues in the air as they glided over the beautiful Odwenanoma valley.
Management of the company expressed their pleasure to be part of the event, which they said was their own contribution to the promotion of tourism in the country.
