FDA disposes off unwholesome food products in Wa
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has disposed off some unwholesome products estimated at about GH₵30,320.00 at the Wa Municipal land field site.
The products that were confiscated by the Authority during post market surveillance, included both expired and unregistered products that werebeing peddled in the market, putting the life of consumers at risk.
Mr. Georden Akurugu, FDA Upper West Regional Director said the exercise was necessary in order to clear the market of unwholesome products to protect the health of consumers during the festive season.
He advised the public to be careful when buying products from the market by checking the expiry dates of all products and also whether they were registered by the FDA or not.
Mr. Akurugu urged consumers to make it a responsibility to check the safety of all consumables in the market before buying, to avoid spending money on buying sicknesses for themselves.
They should, he said, endeavour to also report to the FDA if they find any expired or unregistered product on the market, for immediate action.
