Mfantsipim, Achimota old boys to vie for CDS Golf trophy
Mfantsipim School Old Boys Association (MOBA) Golf Club will meet Achimota School Old Boys Association (AKORAS) Golf Club for the Vice Admiral Matthew Quarshie’s Golf Championship trophy at the Celebrity Golf Course, Sakumono on January 9, 2016.
Mike Aggrey, Captain of MOBA Golf Club who disclosed this in Accra said the one-day Match Play championship, is aimed at strengthening the already existing cordial relationship between the two associations.
He said his association had established relationship with Adisadel College Old Students Association (Santaclausians) playing each other for the past three years.
Mr Aggrey who is also the President of Ghana Golf Association said MOBA hopes to introduce a triangular competition which would involve MOBA, Santaclausians and AKORAS and as time goes, on introduce a quadrangular competition which would see MOBA, Santaclaucians, AKORAS and St Augustine’s Old Students Association (APSU) competing.
“All is aimed at fraternizing with the associations and also efforts to build bridges through golf”. Mr Aggrey added.
He urged other past students associations to emulate their shining examples by forming golf clubs and engaging one other in the game.
Among the array of golfers expected to be seen in action for Mfantsipim old boys, are Vice Admiral Matthew Quarshie, President of the Association, Mike Aggrey, Frank Tackie and Ishmael Bannerman.
The Achimota team which would be led by Joe Ohemeng, would include William Ofori, Joe Ampofo, Sowah Odoi and Mark Cofie.
A keen competition is anticipated since both teams have promised to beat each other and carry the trophy away.
