Boutros-Ghali is dead
Former UN Secretary-General, Boutros Boutros-Ghali is dead. He was 93.
The UN Security Council announced the death Tuesday February 15, 2016.
The current council president, Venezuela’s UN Ambassador Rafael Ramirez, made the announcement at the start of a meeting on Yemen’s humanitarian crisis.
Boutros-Ghali, an Egyptian national, was the first Arab to hold the post of UN Secretary-General, and the first in that position to be denied a second term. He served between 1992 and 1996.
