Use PPPs to create jobs for the youth – Transport Minister

Mrs Joyce Bawa Mogtari, the Deputy Minister of Transport, has called on the private sector to take advantage of Government’s agenda on Public Private Partnerships to create job opportunities for the youth.

Public Private Partnerships (PPP) are mechanisms for government to procure and implement public infrastructure and services using the resources and expertise of the private sector for national development.

Mrs Mogtari made the call during the launch of the Toyota forklift at the Achimota Golf Club in Accra.

She said heavy investment by the private sector was not new to Ghana and therefore called on Toyota Ghana to at least open a plant in the country to serve as knowledge transfer base especially for Ghanaian youth studying technical areas of education.

She urged companies to engage the Ministry for other opportunities streamlined to develop the transportation sector.

Mr Yoshio Ishii, Group Manager of Toyota in charge of India, Africa and Middle East, said the Toyota forklifts feature rugged construction, advanced technology and the perfect design for optimum performance and value.

“It is equipped with optimum lifting and lowering speeds for an optimum material handling experience,” he said.

He urged stakeholders in the transport, construction, agriculture and handling sectors to seize the opportunity to experience the benefits and use of Toyota Forklifts and Material Handling.

Mr Alexis Mandrange, the Deputy Manager of CFAO Equipment, said the company was proud to introduce the all new Toyota Material Handling onto the Ghanaian market.

He said the CFAO was elated to partner with the Toyota brand that has over the years supplied one million durable and sturdy forklifts to clients in about 200 countries including Ghana.

Mr Mandrange promised the readiness of the CFAO to work with government in PPPs to develop the transport sector.
