Jobless man jailed six months for attempting to steal
The Winneba Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 21 year old unemployed man, Sekyi Hall, to six months imprisonment with hard labour for conspiring to committee crime to wit stealing.
Remanded with him, is a 23 old trader, Aaron Amanor.
Sekyi Hall, the first accused is a native of Nsawam who is residing at Kaneshie. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced on his own plea.
Aaron Amanor, the second accused person, also a native of Domie now residing in Awutu Senya pleaded not guilty and was remanded into prison custody to re-appear before the court on March 14, 2016.
Narrating the fact of the case to the court presided over by Mr. Alexander Oworae, the prosecution, Police Inspector Peter Agbelie said, the complainant, Kweku Akyeampong a trader, who lives in a walled self-contained house in Winneba, on 26th December, 2015 his house to his shop.
The accused persons who saw the complainant leaving the house hurriedly jumped over the wall and entered the house and after surveying place broke in by using a crowbar to open the door and entered the house.
Inspector Agbelie said a witness in the case who was then watching their movement raised the alarm.
He said Amanor, the second accused, attempted to jump the wall to escape but he was apprehended.
The prosecution said Sekyi Hall, the first accused, sensing danger entered into a deep freezer which was in the room of the complainant and hide in it but unfortunately for him he was also apprehended and the two were handed over to the police.
After investigations they were charged with the offense and put before the court.
