Official who took responsibility for Independence Day brochure sacked
The acting Director of the Information Services Department (ISD), Mr. Francis Kwarteng Arthur has been sacked.
A statement from the Ministry of Communication making reference to a statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah says Mr. Arthur “has been relieved of his duties as Acting Director of the Information Services Department.”
The statement titled ‘Government communications restructured’ says “the Ministry of Communications assumes responsibility for the Flagstaff House Communications Bureau.”
When public displeasure intensified over the very poorly written brochure to celebrate Ghana’s 59th Independence Anniversary, Mr Arthur issued a statement saying the ISD took full responsibility for the errors. But the letter itself contained another error – it was dated January 12th, 2016, even though the letter was written in March.
Soon after Mr. Arthur issued another letter correcting the earlier one. But the employees at the ISD became livid and went public complaining about the development, denying that they had anything to do with the brochure which also said President Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of Kenya who was the guest of honour at the parade was also the President of the Republic of Ghana.
