Participate in voter registration exercise – Zongo Caucus
Alhaji Yussif Captain, National Coordinator of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Zongo Caucus, has called on members of the party to participate massively in the upcoming Limited Voter Registration exercise next month.
He said the registration would further enhance and ensure the victory of President John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming November elections.
Alhaji Captain said this when addressing members of the Caucus and supporters of the NDC at Effutu in the Central Region.
The meeting was to sensitize the members and supporters of the Party in the area on the coming voter registration exercise and the need to vote for President Mahama.
The meeting was also to reiterate the NDC commitment and intention to further develop Zongo communities in the country.
He said Ghana under the leadership of President Mahama has experienced development in all sectors of the economy and that the standards of living of people in Zongo communities have improved as a result of the effort.
The National Coordinator urged the Zongo youth to take advantage of the social interventions Government is introducing and cautioned them not to allow the NPP to deceive them with unrealistic promises.
He also called for unity, stability, tolerance and understanding among members in order to win the 2016 Elections.
Mr Eric Don Arthur, Parliamentary Candidate for Efutu, said the Zongo communities have got the needed attention under the NDC than any political party in the country.
He said the tarring of the Winneba town roads has started and that more development and social interventions such as the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty, the Youth Employment Agency and the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneur Agency, are equally available.
Mr Authur said President Mahama was committed to uplifting the standards of Ghanaians and gave the assurance that Ghanaians would see more changes in their lives in the coming years.
Alhaji Osmanu Amadu, National Treasure of the Caucus, said calls for the change of the voter register by the NPP was to disqualify people living in Zongo communities with the claims that they are aliens.
Alhaji Amadu urged the people to encourage their children to participate in the registration of the limited voter registration exercise which will be open in April next month.
He called for unity and patience among members and supporter of the party and cautioned them to restrain from making statements that could create trouble.
Mr Paa Nii Lamptey, Constituency Chairman of the Constituency, said the NDC is a party of love and unity and has respect for humanity.
He said the NDC Party will not let Ghanaians down in anyway and reminded Ghanaians of the achievements and social interventions brought about by the NDC under President Mahama.
Alhaji S. M. Alhassan, Deputy National Coordinator of the Caucus, urged the people to campaign all round for President Mahama and Mr Eric Don Arthur Jnr for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections respectively.
The Executives of the Caucus present at the occasion were, Alhaji Mohammed Ashkar, Greater Accra Regional Coordinator, Alhaji Seidu Benjamin, First Vice Coordinator of the Central Region, Hajia Fati and Alhaji Mutawakilu, both Members of the Caucus.
