Hearts will beat Kotoko hands down – Amankwah Mireku

Former captain of Accra Hearts of Oak, Yaw Amankwah Mireku has predicted that his former club will beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the week 10 encounter of the Ghana premier league at the Accra sports stadium on Monday.

Hearts of Oak who have picked themselves up after weeks of off field incidents to beat the defending champions Ashgold 2:1 in the week nine encounter at the Len Clay stadium in Obuasi as Kotoko also lost 0:1 at the Kumasi sports stadium to New Edubiase to the disbelief of interim Kotoko coach, Michael Osei.

Mireku, who captained Accra Hearts of Oak´s CAF Confederations Cup winning squad, told the with GNA Sports he was very sure that his former club was going to take all the maximum points at stake to pile pressure on the league leaders Wa All Stars, who travel to Tarkwa to play Medeama sc.

“I am very sure Hearts will beat Kotoko come Monday but the players must rise to the occasion and give out their best. It is not going to be an easy match as Kotoko has most of the time won at Accra” Mireku noted.

Mireku also had a caution for referee Awal Mohammed, the man who will be at the centre of the match, saying “the referee must be very fair and firm, matches between both sides have always been a tension game but Awal must exhibit professionalism throughout the game.”

The former captain urged supporters of both clubs “to come to the stadium with a clean mind, they must respect the opinion of the referees if even they think otherwise, they should not take the law into their own hands, this is our game and we have to protect it.”

Hearts are currently occupying the second position of the ongoing Ghana premier league with 18 points from nine games with Kotoko on ninth position with 11 points from nine games.
