EC criticized over timing of limited voters’ registration
The Eastern Regional Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mr. Isaac Opare Addo, has criticized the Electoral Commission (EC) over the timing of the just ended nationwide limited voters’ registration exercise.
He said it was done at the wrong time because it disenabled many of the first time voters, who were in school and writing their final examination from registering at their place of residence.
He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that it was the cause of the unnecessary confusion seen at some centres, where the students were bus in by political parties to register.
He urged the Commission to make sure that the mistake was not repeated.
Mr Addo said future registration exercises should be properly planned and should take into consideration the academic calendar.
He also called for the EC to bold to enforce the electoral laws to prevent breaches by the political parties.
He said the CPP was working hard and strengthening its structures to make a strong showing in the coming election.
He invited his colleague politicians not to do anything to divide the people telling them that, the political campaign should be substantive on polices.
