Alleged murderer of 17 people remanded

LawIsaac Kwasi Fosu, who is alleged to have confessed to the of killing 17 people, across the country with the assistance of four others, has been remanded by an Accra Magistrate Court to reappear on June 18.

Luck is said to have run out for Fosu and the four other accomplices namely, Kwame Alex, Yaw Ampofo, William Arthur and Yaa Pokua now at large, when they murdered a 14-year old boy Kweku Owuredu at Abokyifrom, near Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region in November last year.

Prosecution told the court that the complainant was Nana Manu Asiamah, Chief of Abokyikrom while the accused was unemployed residing at Atonie in the Brong Ahafo Region.

In November 29, last year, the complainant reported to the Nkawkaw Police that some people at Abokyikrom had reported that a young boy has been murdered and dumped in a bush in the community.

According to prosecution a team of policemen were dispatched to the area where the deceased was found and identified as Kweku Owuredu aged 15  in a cocoa farm of one Yaa Asor in a prone position.

The body of the deceased was found to have a deep cut under the throat and the body was conveyed to the Nkawkaw Holy family Hospital Morgue.

During Police investigation prosecution said it came to light that the deceased lived with the father Kwadwo Awuah at a village called Korengtengkrom.and on the day of the incident the family left the house early in the morning for church at Abokyikrom and the deceased was to join them later.

Whiles in church, the father’s brother informed him that on his way he saw a pair of sandal stained with blood that looked like that of his son.

A search party from the village went and they discovered the body of the deceased on a cocoa farm in cold blood.

On April 12, this year, prosecution said intelligence gathered led to the arrest of Fosu aka T.O at Atiebie Amanfrom and when he was search a kitchen knife was found on him.

In Fosu’s investigation caution statement to the Police, he admitted murdering Owuredu and mentioned one Kwame Alex, Yaw Ampofo, Williams Arthur and Yaa Pokua as accomplices.

Prosecution said Fosu alleged that he and his accomplices had killed 17 people across the country adding that Kwame Alex engaged them to do the killing and pays him a fee of GH¢25,000 for each person killed.

In the case of Owuredu, Fosu told the Police that Alex had given him GH¢13,000 after killing Owuredu.

On December 9, last year, post mortem was performed on Owuredu’s body by Dr Isaac Siaw Lartey of the Holy Family Hospital who gave an interim cause of death as Hemorrageic shock, suspected assault and sharp edged laceration of anterior.

Prosecution said on April 18, this Fosu was put before a District Court at Nkawkaw where he was remanded to assist in investigations.

Fosu was however discharged by the Court and handed over to the Police Homicide Unit at the Police headquarters for further investigations hence his appearance in court on Friday.

Efforts were being made to arrest Fosu’s accomplices.
