Ghana to host first Tourism Safety Conference and Exhibition
Ghana would host the first International Tourism Safety and Security Exhibition and Conference from May 25, to May 28, 2016 at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre, Accra.
The Exhibition and Conference on the theme: “Promoting Tourism through Safety, Security and a Clean Environment,” is under auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Ministry of the Interior.
It is being organised by the Tourism Safety and Security Initiative (TOSS) in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF) and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
A statement issued by Mr Kofi Yankah, the Executive Director of TOSS, said as part of the Exhibition, there would be a Security Conference on the theme, “Think Ghana, Make Ghana Safe”.
The security conference would offer security agencies, security experts, tourism industry players, the media and the public an opportunity to deliberate on the theme and issue a communiqué at the end which would be presented to the government for action.
It said there would also be demonstration and awareness creation programmes, which would be undertaken by the Ghana National Fire Service to educate the public on best safety and security practices.
It said the target groups were businesses in the tourism and hospitality industries: safety, hoteliers, restaurants, arts and crafts, jewelleries, detergents, sanitation, environment, electronic systems, security companies, and Made-in-Ghana products.
“The public, sponsors, stakeholders, development partners and participants are cordially invited to be part of this unique exhibition experience,” the statement said.
