Ghana Police offers GH¢5,000 reward for information on cop killer
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced a cash reward of GH¢5,000 for information leading to the arrest of a gang of robbers who shot and killed a policeman in Kumasi.
The deceased, Corporal Frank Essel, attached to the SWAT Unit, was gunned down during a raid by the robbers on the Open Space Hotel at Denkyemuoso.
One other person, a receptionist at the facility, was hurt in the attack and is receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
The incident happened on Thursday night – about 1930 hours. The robbers seized valuables from the staff and guests and escaped.
A press release signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yusif Mohammed Tanko of the Regional Public Affairs Unit, vowed that everything would be done to arrest and bring the robbers to justice.
It called for the people to remain calm.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased, has been deposited at the KATH mortuary.
