Volta now has adequate transformers – GRIDco
The Volta Region now has the full complement of its transformer needs, including backups, for power transmission across the Region.
Mr William Amuna, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDco), announced this when he addressed the Third Biennial Congress of the GRIDco Senior Staff Association (SSA), held in Ho.
He said with the current technical power generation status, there should be no need for power curtailment for servicing, as there were backups.
The theme, for the three-day meeting, during which new officers were elected, was: “Delivering Quality Electricity Service in a Very Challenging Tariff Regime and its impact on GRIDco’s Operations”.
Norbert Dzamposu Anku, the Director, Southern Network Services, suggested that the Company should resort to service outsourcing in the coming years to minimise staff cost.
Mr Anku, who presided over the opening ceremony, said that approach would be in consonance with the company’s striving to maintain its clout as a reliable provider of electricity, adequately and cost effectively.
Wing Commander Samuel Allotey (Rtd), the Human Resource Director, said the meeting should bring continuity and renewal and urged the Management to keep a high level of staff engagement to stimulate comradeship.
Mr Bernard Kofi Terkpor, the immediate past Chairman of the Association, said the Association appreciated the hassle the company went through to meet its mandate.
Peter Acquah was elected the National Chairman, Raphael Kornor National Vice-Chairman, Benefit E.A.K. Patu, National General-Secretary, Sarah Dodoo, National Vice-General-Secretary and Edem Aniabor, National Treasurer.
