Tema Country Golf Captain’s Prize slated for June 4
This year’s Tema Country Golf Club Captain’s Prize Championship tees-off at Tema on Saturday, June 4.
Mr Nicholas C. Amoah, General Manager of Tema Country Golf Club, who disclosed this at Tema, said about 200 amateur and professional golfers are expected to participate in the competition, which is in honour of Joshua Peprah, Captain of the Club.
He said the one-day Medal Full Handicap competition, which would be played in two groups in both the female and male categories, is being sponsored by Stanbic Bank, Guinness Ghana, Kenya Airways, Unilever Ghana Limited and PZ Cussons.
Mr Amoah said the entry qualification for the Men’s Group ‘A’ is Handicap 0-14 while the Handicap ‘B’ segment is 15-28.
The Ladies segment he said was pegged at Handicap 0-20 for Group ‘A’ while the Group ‘B’ has Handicap 21-36.
Among the array of golfers expected to participate in the competition are former Minister of State Felix Owusu-Adjapong, Kweku Okyere, Alex Fiagomey and Paul Owusu Baah, all of Tema Golf Club.
Celebrity Golf Club would also parade crack golfers such as Frank Akwasi Opoku, outgoing captain of the club, Joe Ohemeng, Joe Ampofo and Abdul Aziz-Amankwah.
The Professionals would battle each other in an 18-Hole event starting from Friday, June 3.
Four prizes would be awarded in the Men’s Group ‘A’ and three in the Group ‘B’ with three and two prizes going for the Ladies Group “A’ and ‘B’ respectively.
There will also be prizes for ‘Nearest to the Pin’ and ‘Longest Drive’ in each category.
