Volta Vicharles Hotel in illegal water connection

Officials of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) have disconnected water supply to Volta Vicharles Hotel in Ho for allegedly engaging in illegal water connection.

The yet-to-be confirmed one-star hotel allegedly connected a hosepipe bypassing the GWCL metre to a reservoir at a construction site of the hotel’s annex.

Mr Bismark Armah, the officer in-charge of Loss Control Team of the Ghana Water Company’s Regional Office, told journalists that his team traced the hosepipe to the construction site and spotted the illegal connection.

He said checks indicated that the illegal connection was done about two years ago, thus robbing the Company of some GH¢15,000.00.

Mr Philip Dwamena-Boateng, the Regional Chief Manager of the GWCL, described the act as “grave” and said the hotel would have to pay the debt with a penalty or face the law.

A caretaker of the hotel, only known as Emil, said he knew nothing about the illegal connection, therefore, he could not comment on the issue.
