President Mahama grants amnesty to 896 prisoners
President John Dramani Mahama has, in commemoration of Ghana’s 56th Republican Anniversary, granted amnesty to 896 prisoners.
A statement from the Flagstaff House Communications said the freed prisoners include 813 first offenders, 16 seriously ill and 63 aged (70 years and above).
Others are special cases made up of one double amputee and three prisoners on death row who had their sentences commuted to life imprisonment.
