Prophet Miritaiah Jehu-Appiah no longer MDCC head
Prophet Miritaiah Jonah Jehu-Appiah is no longer Head Prophet of the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) and must not be recognised by any persons, group of persons and organisations henceforth.
This followed the struck out of review application of the Prophet by the Supreme Court on June 16 and this has brought the case to effectively end.
Mr Isaac Okyere Darko, Legal Counsel of MDCC made this known at a news conference at Gomoa Mozano on Saturday in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region.
The Supreme Court Judges who sat on the matter were: Justice Atugubah, Presiding, Justice (Mrs)Adinyirah, Justice Gbadegbe, Justice Benin and Justice Akamba.
The cause of the removal of Prophet Miritaiah was that in 2002, Bold and Beautiful, a periodical news paper published an article alleging that, the (defendant) had drugged and raped a junior secondary school (JSS) girl.
Scandalised by this, the Executive Counsel of Plaintiff Church met and urged the defendant to institute libel action against the Publishers of Periodical.
The Defendant however, only pleaded that, the Plaintiff Church should rather appeal to the Publishers to stop further similar publications.
The MDCC Legal Counsel cautioned that, information reaching the National Executive Committee (NEC) that, the deposed Prophet and his henchmen are frantically preparing to celebrate their version of Peace festival on August 17, 2016.
Mr Okyere Darko said: “We will like to remind them that this action will be contemptuous of the Supreme Court.
He reminded Prophet Miritaiah and his dissidents to submit themselves to the leadership of the Church as presently constituted if they want to remain relevant to the MDCC.
“By this press conference, all stations, pastors, prophets, priests and individuals who previously aligned themselves with the deposed Akaboha III are warmly invited to join the fold of the one undivided MDCC, “he said.
He said the leadership of the Church in turn assures all such persons of a warm embrace into the Church and further undertake that, there would be no reprisal action towards them.
The Legal Counsel said any church officer who contumaciously flouts these salutary directives or order would be present to the Church with no other option than to apply sanction.
He said, by this, leadership would like to serve notice to the world that, the Church’s Official Peace festival celebration would come off on schedule from August 23 to September, 5.
Mr Okyere Darko was flanked at the conference by Pastors, Prophets, Priests, Lay Men and General Secretary of the MDCC.
He stated that it has come to the notice of the NEC that, some people are going round after the review filed by deposed Akaboha III and struck out with the false news that the followers of Pro-Miritaiah could continue to organise their own activities and described the situation “as a big lie”.
Mr Okyere Darko said the June 16, verdict was the definite end of Prophet Miritaiah Jehu-Appiah, signaling the full resumption of authority by Moknajeeba Jehu Appiah as the Akaboha IV of the Church.
He said: “We declared for the attention of the World that, the MDCC has a new leader in the Person of Prophet Moknajeeba Fiifi Jehu Appiah and should be regarded as such.”
The Agona Swedru High Court presided over by Justice Senyo Dzemfe removed Prophet Miritaiah Jehu- Appiah in 2006 as the Head of the church for raping a JSS Girl.
The deposed Prophet proceeded to a court of Appeal in Cape Coast and lost.
The defiant deposed Akaboha went for an Appeal at the Supreme Court and the five Justices unanimously struck out the case. He lost the Review Application as well.
