Satellites in danger of missing out on 2017 U-20 Tournament
Ghana’s under-20 football team the Black Satellites are in danger of missing out on the Africa 2017 U-20 tournament in Zambia after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Senegal in the first leg of the final rounds of the qualifiers at the Demba Diop Stadium in Dakar.
The Young lions of Senegal dimmed the former African and world champions’ hopes of qualifying for the championship following a sublime performance from match hero Ibrahim Niane, who bagged a hat-trick to take his side to the brink of getting a ticket to Zambia.
Jonah Osabutey however gave Ghana a consolation in the 22nd minute when he finished from a Kingsley Fobi’s assist.
The Black Satellites arrived in Ghana yesterday to start preparations for the return leg which comes off in a fortnight. Ghana will have to replicate the wonderful performance that saw them edge Ethiopia out after a 2-1 away defeat in the previous qualifiers.
