I will act boldly to tackle graft – Nana Akufo-Addo
The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has vowed to act boldly to tackle graft if given the mandate to lead the nation by voters.
He would do everything to make sure that the resources of the state were transparently and efficiently managed to transform the living conditions of the people.
He was addressing separate rallies at Bantama and Ash-Town in Kumasi as part of his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region to woo voters.
Nana Akufo-Addo was accompanied by leading members of the party including Mr. Allan Kwadwo Kyeremateng, former Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs), national and regional officers.
He described as deeply disturbing the current state affairs where he said the nation was crashing under the weight of unrestrained corruption and greed.
He said the worsening economic situation – evident from widespread suffering, had been the result of corrupt practices by people put in position of trust to manage the country’s resources – citing “fictitious payment of judgement debts”.
He indicated that it was not surprising that the nation had consistently scored low marks on the Transparency International’s corruption perception index.
It was something real, which the NPP government under his watch, would go to every length to deal with – to make it become a disincentive for anybody to engage in.
Nana Akufo-Addo second-guessed the ruling government’s decision to take Ghana back to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after the Kufuor Administration had weaned the country off the Fund’s support.
He, however, stated that there was hope and that they would work to turn things around – to return the economy to real sustainable growth.
He repeated his promise to establish a factory in every district to create jobs and wealth for the people.
He called for the people to turn out in their numbers to vote for him and the party’s parliamentary candidates, come the voting day.
