Black Stars captaincy squabble does not make sense – Ayew’s spokesperson
The spokesperson for the Ayew family, Fiifi Tackie Thursday said the media should halt the rumours about the captainship of the black stars since Asamoah Gyan is still the captain and Dede Ayew remains his deputy.
There has been rumours of a rift between the black star duo of Captain Asamoah Gyan and his deputy captain Andre Dede Ayew over the black stars captainship.
Fiifi Tackie in clearing the air on behalf of Andre Ayew in an interview, described the rumour as unnecessary and something Ghanaians should not debate about.
“For me it is a fact that Gyan remains the captain and Dede only steps in when Gyan is not available. These rumours doesn’t make sense to me.”
The most important thing is that Ghana has qualified for the African cup of Nations ( AFCON) in 2017 and as sports journalist and Ghanaians, we should look at the way forward for the country and how to qualify for Russia 2018 world cup” he added.
Tackie said there is no problem between the stars duo and urged the media not to dwell on sensationalism. “So far as I am concerned, Dede and Gyan have a very wonderful relationship and these rumours will not distract any of them”.
“They will continue to be good friends and work together for Ghana to achieve what we are seeking” he said.
