Volta joins CLOSSAG’s nationwide strike
Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOSSAG) in the Volta Region have joined the nationwide strike declared by National Executive of the Association in protest against unpaid allowances.
The workers did not report for work on Wednesday following a crunch meeting with some National Executive members in Ho on Tuesday afternoon.
Offices in the Volta Regional Coordinating Council yard and the Ho Municipal Assembly were closed with some management staff idling around the offices.
Regional Executives of the Association could not be reached for comments but a source told the Ghana News Agency that members have been warned not to get near the offices until notified to report for work.
Leadership of the Association has been battling the National Labour Commission over the payment of outstanding allowances.
