Let’s do more to raise the moral threshold – Asantehene
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has expressed deep concern about the growing indiscipline and indecency in the society, describing the trend as unhealthy.
He has therefore called for faith leaders to do more to raise the moral threshold and get everybody, particularly the youth, to move away from anything undignified and reprehensible.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu was addressing the 2016 annual convention of the Aglow International – Ghana, in Kumasi.
The six-day event, attended by women from across the nation was held under the theme “…and will restore all things”.
The Asantehene encouraged them as Christian women to lead from the front efforts at restoring the moral health of the country to give protection to young girls and help them to live their dreams.
They had vital role to play in reshaping the lives of the girl-child – to avoid pitfalls.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu again reminded them to refuse to sit on the sidelines but get actively involved in the peace campaign to remove political intolerance and the threat of violence as the nation edged towards general election.
As they prayed to God for his continued gift of peace it was also important to engage and talk people out of any irresponsible conduct likely to throw the nation into turmoil, he added.
He said the expectation was that they would become good example to others in their communities by reflecting Christ-like qualities of love, modesty, humility and service to humanity.
The Asantehene applauded the group for setting up a Vocational Training School at Sepaasein the Atwima-Nwabiagya District for the under-privileged and orphans to give them hope for a better future.
Mr. Alexander Ackon, the Ashanti Regional Minister, repeated the government’s commitment towards ensuring that the coming election was successful.
He said everything would be done to make sure that voters exercised their franchise, free from intimidation and violence.
He counseled the political parties and their supporters to get right with the law and desist from any reckless conduct.
Madam Dorothy Danso, the National President of Women Aglow, said they would continue to intercede for the nation through prayers for God’s blessings of peace, prosperity and progress.
