NPP fortunes declining in Sunyani East – Chairman
Mr James Oppong Asare, a leading Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Brong-Ahafo Region, has expressed discomfort about the declining strength of the party in the Sunyani Constituency.
According to him, the national executive of the party ought to up its measures to improve on the fortunes of the party in the constituency in the December 7 polls.
Mr Asare, who is a former Constituency Chairman of the party, told a news conference in Sunyani on Thursday that the NPP remains a strong party under a great elephant and the problems causing the division among the members ought to be stemmed.
He blamed the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, for the disunity within the rank and file of the party.
Flanked by other former constituency executives, Mr Asare asked the leadership of the party to act swiftly, intervene and help resolve the fueding factions within the party for total victory in the election.
“We can no more stand the threats and attacks emanating from the camp of the MP. If the leadership of the party fail to bring the MP and his associates into order we will be left no other option than to retaliate,” he added.
Efforts made to contact Mr Ameyaw-Cheremeh for his side of the story were unsuccessful as he failed to respond to his calls.
