Kenyan referee to handle Medeama’s decisive duel against Mazembe
Kenyan referee Davies Ogenche Omweno has been picked as the man to handle Medeama SC’s decisive group encounter against five times African Champions League winners, TP Mazembe.
The Ghana premier league side host their adversaries from Congo this Sunday at the Essipong Sports Stadium for the CAF Confederations Cup.
The match fixed for 15:00 local time is a must-win for the home side to boost their chances of making it from the group stage.
Meanwhile, Davies will be assisted on the lines by fellow countryman Marwa Range and Nigerian Abel Baba as the second assistant. In his 30 recent international matches handled, Davies has issued a total of 73 yellow cards with no red card. He has awarded a total of 4 penalty kicks – 2 for home teams and 2 for away teams.
TP Mazembe handed a 3-1 defeat to Medeama in the reverse fixture in Congo. Medeama SC are sitting second on the table five points adrift of Mazembe who has 10 points. Medeama will however travel away to Algeria to play MO Bejaia- who they share the same points with at the moment- in their last group game.
TP Mazembe arrived in Ghana on Thursday afternoon ahead of the match.
The other group game will feature Tanzania’s Young Africans playing host to Algerian’s MO Bejaia on Saturday.
