Venus Williams misses out on Rio gold after mixed doubles loss

Tennis superstar Venus Williams missed her last chance at an Olympic gold medal in Rio, after losing in the mixed doubles final match.

The all-United States final saw Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock win 6-7 (3-7), 6-1, 10-7 against Williams and her partner Rajeev Ram and took silver.

Williams had crashed out of the women’s singles and women’s doubles earlier at the Rio Games. Her sister Serena made it nowhere near the medals podium.
